Merry Christmas Cookies

(hits: 2004 )
Serves about 14 cookies

Added by Kevin USA, CA
Ingredients:
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
frosting (your favorite)
candies, raisins and other decorations
Instructions:
In a large bowl, cream the butter. Add the sugar, a little at a time, and beat until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolk and beat well. Mix the flour, cinnamon, baking powder and salt. Add this mixture to the butter mixture and mix well. Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in a piece of waxed paper. Chill the wrapped dough in the freezer for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Sprinkle your work surface lightly with flour. Roll half of the dough 1/8-inch thick. Cut out with cookie cutters. Using a spatula, place the cookies 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Let the cookies cool a few minutes. Move the cookies to a wire rack and let cool completely. Frost and decorate the cookies.
