This is a walkthrough of Lunar Silver Star Story (LSSS) - not to be confused with other similar games. As with any walkthrough, this document contains spoilers! It
was developed for LSSS English Language Version for Playstation and was verified via emulator. Some things may not work on other platforms or alternate language
versions. While this walkthrough is functionally complete (you can beat the game using it), I intend to add some tools to help you learn the game system more
easily and explain the nuances of each and every item. You may
to make requests/corrections.
Walkthrough Notes
As I said above, all walkthroughs contain spoilers. What I've tried to do here is set this site up so that you can get the information you need
without having to read the whole document. Please see the points below for things you'll want to know about that DON'T involve spoilers. I
recommend reading them before even starting the game. Then play each section first, saving at every possible point. When you finish a section, go
back to the walkthrough and see if there is anything you missed. I'll include various hints, tips, tricks and cheats I may have noticed along the
way. I've broken the game up into various chapters (usually denoted by a change in scenary or unusually long/dense cut scene.
Points to Remember
(IE: Things I wish someone had told me starting out!)
- Attack this game from the standpoint that you DO want to beat it completely. If you decide not to at some point, you
can always stop doing the tough stuff. Otherwse, you may miss out on something you really need.
- Any time you see an item in a dashed box,
you can hover the mouse over it for more information about that item. Hover the mouse over the box (or tap the screen on a mobile device) for for a second or two to
see an example of how it works.
- You can save your game at nearly any time. Just hit the circle button on your
controler to bring up the save menu.
- Nall can carry more items than your other characters, but you cannot use them
during a battle. Use the menu screen to transfer items from Nall's inventory to the
other characters so they can use them during a battle.
- At some point Nall will run out of storage space. When that happens, don't be
afraid to sell off your old weapons and armor. Keep the accessories, though. Also,
once you get access to Healing Nut items, it's OK to ditch any Herb you might be
carrying.
- The amount of HP a boss has is dependant on Alex's level. But the higher Alex's
level, the more damage he can do. As long as Alex isn't significantly more advanced
than the rest of the party, it's worth it to level grind from time to time.

Berg
Welcome to Berg
When you first start a new game you'll be treated to a series of cut scenes (believe it or not, these were state of the art at the time). You can't skip these, but
they provide useful information so practice your patience and try to learn things. When you have control of your character, head toward the bottom of the screen and
run into Ramus. After a brief conversation, head right, following the top of the screen. You'll go down one bridge, then up another to a new screen. After more cut
scenes and dialog, head back down into town.
Optional Backstory
If you would like more backstory here, you can wander around the town and talk to folks until they repeat themselves. If someone asks Luna to sing, go ahead and let her.
The White Dragon Cave
When you're ready to move on, head to your house in the upper left corner of the town map. Talk to everyone until they repeat themselves, and you'll eventually get
permission to raid the basement. Go down the stairs on the bottom left of the screen and get stuff out of the chests. (As far as I know, you can't open the
barrels.) You should receive: Angel's Tear , Star Light , Herb , Dragonfly Wing . Once you have these, leave the house and head to the village entrance on the far left
of the village screen. Talk to Ramus, then open the menu by pressing Square and equip your characters.
Cave of the White Dragon
When you are ready, leave the village and you'll appear on the overworld screen. Follow the mountains around to the right, up, then down and back to the left. You
should see the cave just below the village of Berg. Head into the cave. This is where I like to spend a bit of time leveling up. Don't use the AI - manually have
your characters attack. Don't use your items - rely on Luna to heal folks when needed. When you run low on magic, head back to Berg and heal at the statue in the
middle of the town. While you're there, head to the weapons shop and sell any items you've picked up in combat (don't sell your Angel's Tear , Star Light , or
Dragonfly Wing !) and see if there are any new weapons or armor you can afford. I like to repeat this process until everyone has the best armor and weapons Berg has
to offer. That usually gets me to level 8 or so. At that time, I will begin moving deeper into the cave.
Before you go further into the cave, head straight down from the cave opening. You should see an ice wall blocking your path further down. Remember what those
look like - you can trick a monkey into breaking them for you. Once broken, they will stay broken even if you leave the cave. That means you can create short cuts
and open paths that would otherwise block your way or hide items. Anyway, make your way to the left and explore the cave. Be sure to open any chests you find.
Continue going back to Berg to heal as needed. You should eventually make your way to the other side of that ice wall I mentioned before. Get the monkey to chase
you, then move out of the way so the monkey breaks the ice wall.
From there, head down and follow the path. You should eventually reach another cave entrance. Head inside and watch the cut scenes with Quark, then head back out
of that room. The rocks blocking your way left should be gone and you can continue on. Go left, then up and into the next area. You'll need to get the monkey to
break the ice walls here so you can continue. As you continue look for a couple of chests blocked by ice walls. If you can get the monkey to open them you can get
250 Silver, another Star Light , and the Dragon Ring . Take the Dragon Ring back to Quark, then head back to Berg.
You might be tempted to level grind here, but be patient and there will be a better place soon. When you're back in Berg, use the statue to heal and then head to
the item shop. After a brief discussion head back to Alex's house. On the way Luna will leave Alex and Ramus. Agree to go with Ramus and head out of town, then into
the forest to the left. Wander around a bit and eventually you'll end up back in Berg. Return to Alex's house and talk to everyone over and over until Alex goes to
sleep. After a brief dialog, Luna and Alex can meet up with Ramus at the village entrance.
Weird Woods
Head back to the left and into the woods. After the path is cleared, you'll be able to
wander around the area. This is where I like to level up a bit more. You'll end up in a
major fight soon and it will be good to have characters that can hold their ground.
While wandering around, pick up any Herb or Antidote items you find. Like before, I
tend to just sell most of these off and rely on Luna to cure conditions. Since poison
goes away at the end of each battle, I rarely use them once the characters are strong
enough to defeat these enemies in one or two rounds. By this time Alex should be able
to do more than one attack. Having him focus on the strongest enemies makes these
battles a lot easier.
Anyway, there's a large open area here. If you're leveling up, don't go to the upper
left past this area until you're ready for the big fight. The upper right exit from
this area has a slighly hard to see orange chest. It's locked, and if you try to open
it Nall will wonder what's inside. If you head left, you'll end up in three
back-to-back fights. Since you can't recover between battles, clear out all but one
enemy and heal up before finishing each battle. If you find you are having a lot of
trouble, you can ask for help from the mysterious stranger who offers assistance
between battles. When the battles are over, there will be more cut dialogue and you'll
be able to move on. If you were unable to withstand all three waves of attack, you will
get a little bit more dialgue, but there isn't any tangible difference. Head down and
find your way out of this area. At this point I like to be about level 13 or so. If
you're not, you may want to level up a bit here - but be sure to head to Saith first
and buy new weapons and armor. When you get to the overworld map and you're ready to
move on, head left across the bridge and down and rigth to the town of Saith. (You can
ignore the left fork for you - you'll be coming back there soon.)

Saith
Saith
When you enter town, head down the path and visit the weapon shop on the right. Upgrade
everyone's armor, and buy a Small Bow for Luna and a Long Sword for Alex.
Head to the lower right corner of the city screen, talking to folks along the way.
In the dock house at the bottom you'll learn you need a Sea Chart . Talk to the two guys
at the top of the screen until they repeat themselves, then head to the bar to find it.
Talk to the guy in the upper right corner of the screen to gamble for it. Keep talking
to him until you get a Fortune Cane .
Sea Hag's Forest
Leave town the way you came in, but this time take the left road and head up.
Eventually you'll come to a forest. Make your way through the forest, grabbing items
from any chests you find. You can get a few Herb items and a Star Light , but some of
the obvious chests just call more monsters. Be sure you're ready for battle before
opening them. Head all the way to the top of this screen and on the next one head up to
meet Nash. Nash comes with a Water Cane , Robe , Iron Bracelet , and Bandanna. Continue up
to arrive at the sea hag's house.
Head upstairs, talk to her, and then have Luna talk to Nash. Trade that to the sea
hag for the Sea Chart . Be careful, though. If you leave and come back she'll ask for
the Fortune Cane as well. Don't give that up just yet, since you'll want Nash to use it
for a while. If you go into the basement you can find another of those locked chests.
You can't do anything about that just yet.
Leave the house and head all the way back to Saith.
Leaving Saith
Note: Read this whole section first - you'll thank me later.
When you get to town you'll find there's a monster on the loose. Visit the statue
to make sure your HP and MP are restored, equip the best weapons and armor that you
can, then save your game and head to the dock. The higher your level, the more
powerful this guy will be, so be sure to use whatever attacks you have that do the
most damage. I recommend giving Luna and Ramus a Star Light . You need Alex to be able
to continuously attack with powerful magic to defeat this guy, and he'll run out of
magic if you don't give him a Star Light . In terms of how each character attacks,
here's how I approach this one:
- Alex: Cast Vigor to boost attack, then use Sword Dance. Have someone toss him a
Star Light when he runs out of MP.
- Ramus: Attack and use a Star Light on Alex when he has less than 10 MP.
- Luna: Purity Song and Tranquil Song to keep folks healthy, and be ready to use a
Star Light on Alex if he's lower on MP and Ramus is unable to move.
- Nash: Spam Thunder Bomb until out of MP, then attack (Don't forget to equip the
fortune staff if you haven't done that already!) If you have a third Star Light , you
can give it to Nash in case both Luna and Ramus are unable to move.
So why did I say to read the whole section first? Well the biggest enemy in this
battle is actually the PRNG. No matter how high level you are, or how well prepared
you are going into this area, if the game roles badly on the pseudo random number
generator, you're going to hate life. This is why I said to save before attempting. In
fact, once all the sailors run away, you can save again right before the fight. I
recommend it, frankly. Saline Slimer can use an attack that makes a random character
lose up to 4 or 5 turns. If that character is Alex and it happens several times in a
row, quit and reload. Seriously. It's possible to harm him, but he regenerates a LOT
of HP every turn, and if you can't use Alex's sword dance you won't be able to keep up
with it.
Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away!
When the battle is over, you'll talk to Luna and then you'll get sail away across the
ocean. Talk to folks on the main deck if you want, then head below deck. There's a
suviner shop where you can buy soap. This is the only place in the game you can do so,
and it's not cheap. You will only ever need 4 bars of soap, and you can theoretically
get 2 free ones later in the game. So if you're paranoid, you can buy 4, otherwise
just get 2. Save your game, then when you're ready to move on, talk to Luna (top of
the screen) twice. When you wake up, head up onto the deck and watch the cut scene.
(If you like the cut scene, you can reload from the save game. After the scene, you'll
wake up and join with Luna. Go up to the deck and walk down the bow to trigger the
last cut scene before Meribia.
Meribia
Welcome to town
Nash and Ramus will leave and you can wander around town with Luna. This is a good
place to wander around and talk to folks but avoid crossing the draw bridge at the top
center of the screen for now. If you head up you can find an item shop and a weapon
shop. I sold all 10x Herb and bought 3x Healing Nut . At the weapon shop, you can get
the Long Sword for Alex and the Small Bow for Luna (if you missed them earlier.) You
can also buy a Fire Cane , which will be handy the next time you're paird up with Nash.
If you keep going left, you'll find an armor shop where you can buy a Headband for
Luna, and Iron Armor , an Iron Shield , and an Iron Helmet for Alex. Just left and up
from there is another weapon shop. You can upgrade Alex to a Broad Sword and Luna to a
Battle Bow . The town exit is at the top of this screen, but you can't leave now so
head left instead.
Black Rose Street
This area has an item shop where you can buy one or more Star Light to replenish any
you had to use during the slime battle earlier. I like to keep 2 or 3 on hand at this
point in the game - just in case. There are other shops here, but they don't all sell
things you'd really want (magical toothbrush anyone?) The Armor shop, however, sells
armor for Luna. If you can afford it, pick up a Robe and a Steel Armlet . When you're
done shopping, head all the way left and up into the little house there. After the cut
scene, talk to Nash and Royce, then leave the shop. Remember how I said to avoid the
drawbridge at the top middle of the previous screen? You can go there now.
Mel's House
Head to the screen right of Black Rose Street and head right, then up. Cross the draw
bridge and enter Mel's palace. Talk to everyone here and eventually you'll fight Mel.
If you have a bunch of Healing Nut items you might win, but it's not really worth it.
Just spam Sword Dance and after you die have Luna heal you up. When done, go to the
item shop and buy a Dragonfly Wing , if you don't already have one. Leave and go back
to find Ramus. Agree to the 20,000 Silver offer, then head into the back room when
given the chance. Head right and down, then enter...
Meribia Sewers
See the blue button on the wall to your right? Press that to extend the bridge that
will let you progress. Feel free to talk to folks here, then head down across the
bridge. This is a good place to level grind, if you like. You can leave the sewers,
then leave the building and go up and right to find the statue to heal up. You can
also equip Ramus with Iron Armor and an Iron Shild, and you can buy him a Battle Bow .
If you get into trouble down here, you can use the Dragonfly Wing to warp to the
start of the dungeon - just be sure you buy another one if that was your last!
Head down and right, and use the blue botton to drop another bridge. There's a
place to the right where you can go down through a buliding and obtain a Star Light .
From there, head back up, then left and down. There's another chest here with another
Star Light . Grab that then head down. You'll come to a spot where there are seven
paths leading down, blocked by fish. The fish give decent XP if you're a high enough
level, but if no you can try to avoid them. Here's what's down each branch:
- Nothing
- A switch and continue to a chest with 1x Herb . After grabbing the item, head
right and press the button to drop a bridge. Cross the bridge and press the blue
button on the right to open up path 5. Backtrack to path five and cross over.
- Nothing
- Nothing
- A blocked path (Flip switch in path 2 to unblock)
- Nothing
- A Chest with 250 Silver
Down and right from the bridge you'll find a box with a Herb . Grab that and head
up the path just to the right of the bridge you just came across. There's another
chest at the end of that path with 250 Silver. Return to the bridge and this time
head right, go through the doorway, and head up. Fight through some pretty tough
enemies, and at the top of the screen head right and down, then through the doorway.
Grab the three chests here for 2x Antidote and 1x Star Light .
Option: Level-up
If you can stand to level-grind here, getting Alex up to level 18 can be very
lucrative in an upcoming dungeon. As in, you can earn nearly 300XP and over 2000
Silver each battle - plus have the possibility of obtaining an item that will provide
+2 Defense and +10 agility!
Water Dragon
Warning: Boss Fight! As soon as you talk to the thief there you're going to
get dragged into a nasty boss fight. This guy can attack anyone in the front row with
a majorly powerful fire breath attack. Open the menu, select Nall, and use the
formation tab to move everyone to the back row. In terms of Items, give both Ramus
and Luna 2x Star Light , 2x Antidote , and 1x Healing Nut . Save your game, then talk to
the thief. Here is my standard battle plan:
- Alex: Use Vigor, then use Sword Dance.
- Luna: Use Cascade on Ramus, then Alex, then Luna. Heal as needed.
- Ramus: Use Antidotes if anyone is poisoned, throw a Star Light or Healing Nut to
Alex or Luna if needed, and finally attack if there's nothing else to do.
Using this method you should get through here with little trouble.
When you have control again, open the menu and transfer all items from Ramus to
Nall, then use the Dragonfly Wing to warp to the start of the dungeon, then head
through the door at the top of the screen, return to the shop, and talk to Dross.
When you have control again, check everyones equipment, replenish any items you need,
use the statue of Althena to heal up, then exit the city via the gate at the top of
the city screen.
Cave of Trial
Head right and down until you get to the springs (a blue circle to the left of a star
symbol.) Technically you can head further left and fight some random encounters, but
you'll get there eventually as part of the plot, so it's not really worth it as far
as I can tell. Talk to the guy next to the spring, then leave the screen and head
left to the shrine. Go inside and head to the far end. After the cut scene, talk to
everyone here and then head outside and talk to the priestess there to get replenish
your HP and MP. Head back to the springs with your Application .
After Nash leaves, step to the middle of the star to enter the Cave of Trials. You
can't use items here, so use your magic sparingly. You'll have a boss battle that
you'll want Alex fully charged for. Pay attention to how much Luna can heal for and
don't waste her magic healing less than that amount. If you run across a small silver
enemy called a Chiro, you can get a massive amount of XP and Silver if you can take
it out before it runs away from battle. Don't forget that you're going to need Alex
fully charged for the final battle, though.
The cave enterance is actually a little hard to see - head straight up. Continue
up and right, fighting monsters. Go through the door there, and on the next screen
head down and right. The path up leads to a chest with 250 Silver. Go back down and
continue along the path right and up. The guy there can heal you, but hopefully you
don't need that yet! If you do, you might want to consider reloading and doing a bit
of leveling up! Go up and through the door.
On the next screen you can choose to go either left or right - both lead to the
same place, though the path at the right might be harder to see. Fight the monsters
and head through the door.
On the next screen, there's a locked chest on the right-hand path. Since you can't
open those yet, skip it and head down and to the right. There's a chest with 250
Silver at the end of the path. Grab that then head through the door. There are a
variety of folks you can talk to on this level, but the exit is pretty close - head
up and right. The guy there will offer to heal you, but remember you only get that
once, so I generally opt to wait. Go through the door to get to the next level.
There are a few paths you can take on this next screen, but taking the upper path
can help you avoid random encounters. There's another chest with 250 Silver in the
upper left corner of this floor. From there, head down and skip the left-hand path
for now. Going down and left will net you the final chest with 250 Silver. Go back
up, make sure you're ready, then head left to battle...
Truffle Troubler
This enemy can paralyze you, so be ready to have Luna cure that. Start off with Alex
casting Vigor and Luna casting Cascade Song on Alex. Alex should then use Sword Dance
until he's out of MP, then switch to regular attacks. Luna should be healing and
curing conditions with Purity Song. If you have any magic left, heal up, save, then
head left and up. There's a Healing Ring here that you really want! Get that, then go
through the door. Head left, up, and back to the right to reach the exit.
Vane
Optional: Level-up
You have a chance to level-up here with just Alex and Luna, but if you wait a few
minutes you can also have Nash. If you level all three up to level 23, Nash will get
a powerful "All Enemies" magic, which can be super helpful in upcoming battles. If
you want to level up as just Alex and Luna...
You'll appear in the lower-left exit of a building. Head out the lower right exit and
go up and right around some buildings, then up and left to find stairs leading down
to the left. There's a statue at the top of the screen where you can replenish your
HP and MP. If you back track to the place where you found the Healing Ring , there's
an enemy you can fight which has a massive XP/Silver reward. If neither of the two
Chiro (or Ice Mongrel) enemies flee, you can earn 288 XP and 2135 Silver with a
single Flash Cut attack from Alex. It's pretty quick to get both Alex and Luna up to
level 20 here, if you're patient. If one of them flees, you will still get 159XP and
1235 Silver for each battle won. If you're really lucky while fighting these guys,
you can obtain a Chira's Tail, which increases defense by 2 and agilty by 10!
The City of Vane
When you're ready to move on, wander around and talk to everyone. Buy any weapons,
armor, and items you'd like, and don't forget to read all the books in the library.
There totally aren't any obvious foreshadowing notes in there. Nope, definately not.
No way.
When you're ready to move on, enter the building at the top of the screen. When
your party breaks up, explore all the places from the far right to the far left - in
that order. Eventually you'll be given a new quest. Talk to the guy next to Ghaleon's
desk to get more information, then head out of the building. If you want to level up
Alex, Luna, and Nash, use the instructions in the section above. When you're ready to
move on, step on the star transporter thing at the bottom of the screen.
Nanza Pass
Leave the screen with the transporter and head left and down until you get to Nanza
pass. There are several chests here, but some of them are dangerous. They'll inflict
confuse on your party and start a battle with several enemies. When confused, your
charcters will randomly cast magic on each other, use rare items, etc. Avoid that, if
you can. Follow the instructions here to avoid those and get the valid chests with
their loot.
Read the sign, then head left. The path down is a dead end, so head up and left.
At the next fork, the path right is a dead end, so head up. Continue up until you see
a chest at a fork in the road. Don't open it - that one is a trap. Head right and
down to open a chest with 50 silver. The path up is a dead-end, so head left. Go
down, following the right-hand wall until you see a chest. Head down through the
opening and open the chest for 1x Herb . Don't spend it all in one place.
Continue down following the right wall off to the right until you come to a chest
with another Herb . There's a path down from here leading to another chest, but don't
open that one! Instead, back-track up and left, then open the chest at the bottom of
this screen for 50 Silver. Now follow the right wall up, the down and to the right.
When you are directly below the chest you just opened, head left.
Nanza
When you get to the next area, save then talk to folks. There's a statue here, so you
can heal back up and get your MP back. Head to the far left and talk to the guy there
to learn you need to get Kyle's permission to pass. Wander around talking to people
and you'll eventually hear where you need to go. It's more or less in this order:
- Take a tower stair up one level and head to the top left area, and talk to folks.
You'll learn he's in a tower to the southeast
- Head down and right, then climb the tower and talk to the girl at the top. You'll
learn he went to the basement.
- Go all the way down the tower, then head left and down until you find the
kitchen/dining hall. Talk to the first person you see and you'll hear he went to his
bedroom.
- Head out of that room, then up and talk to somone in a room with a bed. You'll
learn he's in jail.
- Backtrack and enter the jail, then interact with the door at the top to start a
cut scene and get permission to leave.
- Leave the jail and go down the left and up to find a tower. Go up one more level,
out the door at the bottom of the screen. Go up and right until you find another
tower. Go in the door, down one level, out the bottom of the tower, and then go left
and exit this area.
When you get to the next area, don't go straight down and open a chest. That's a
trapped one. Instead, go left, then down, and left again. Talk to the guy you see
there, then continue left. When you see a path up to a chest, that's safe to take and
you can get a Star Light . Continue left and talk to folks, then read the sign and
head left to the next area. On the world map, go up and left, but follow the trails
up and left. The other far left path doesn't go anywhere. Save outside the village,
then head inside.
Lann
Talk to everyone outside, and inside - but go into the central building last. Talk to
folks there. Agree to let the healer join your party. Talk to folks, then leave and
go the boat down and to the left. Talk to the guy there and you'll get the boat
automagically.
Lann Island
Warning: This area has chests that can cause a weird effect. Your controls will
stop working. But at least they don't attract enemies, so you can wait for the effect
to wear off. You'll also want to stay out of the water, as that can cause your
characters to lose health while you walk.
If you find your party needs healing, you can go back down and take the boat to the
previous town and use the statue to recover HP/MP. (If you talk to the guy by the
boat enought times on one of these trips, it may unlock Jessica's Bromide 2 later.)
On the island, head up and to the right to find a chest with 300 Silver. Heading
left from there you'll run into another chst, but you should avoid that one because
it will make your guys unable to move in a straight line for a while. From there,
head left, then up. There's a chest at the end of the left path with another 300
Silver.
From there go right and up. There's a chest pretty close there which you'll want
to avoid. Instead, head right until you see another chest. Open that for 500 Silver.
Head up from there. There's a chest to the left which you'll want to avoid. If you go
up from there, you'll find another chest to avoid. Right from that is a chest with
300 Silver, though. If you far to the left there, you'll find another chest to avoid.
Instead, go up and left around the grass and open the chest to the far left for a
Fresh Ring . Equip this to Jessica to prevent conditions!
From there back track a bit and go down and left. Avoid the obvious chest and head
up and left instead. Eventually you should arrive at a tent. This will lead you to a
boss fight, so be sure to heal up when you get here! Cast Vigor and Cascade Song on
Alex, then have him use sword dance. Attach with your healers unless someone needs to
be healed/de-conditioned, and have Nash cast Magic box to suppress Magic, then
lightning magic. It shouldn't take too long to kill him off that way. Having Luna and
Jessica both able to do heal-all magic is pretty powerful here.
Once the battle is over, transfer the Fresh Ring from Jessica, then either use a
Dragonfly Wing or Jessica's Escape Litany to return to the start of this area. Head
down to leave the island and you'll go back to the village of Lann. Head back through
the Pass and go back to the tansporter screen - but before you step on it, transfer
all items from Luna to Nall. Return to Vane using the teleporter.
After Nash leaves your party, make sure Alex and Nall have at least two Star Light
and two Dragonfly Wing items, then head to the Magic Guild. Go straight through the
doors and talk to folks there. Repeatedly talk to Galeon and Mia until you get a cut
scene. When you next have control, wander back and forth for a bit, then talk to the
lady with the mask. When she joins you, check your equipment and items. Make sure
Alex and Mia both have at least one Healing Nut , Star Light , and Dragonfly Wing .
Technically you can leave the guild at this time. If Mia is really close to
learning a powerful spell, you may want to consider it. She should join your party at
the same level as Alex. At level 21 she gets a decent enemy zone ice attack. You can
go back into the trial cave and fight the ice mongrel enemies to level up, if you're
patient.
When you're ready to move on, use the blue door in the guild (to the right of the
guild entrance) and enter the Crystal Tower.
Crystal Tower
Climbing the Tower
When Nash rejoins your party, make sure he is fully equipped. Go through the door and
enter the tower. Head forward and you'll be told you have to remove all your weapons
to be able to proceed. However, if you instead use a Dragonfly Wing , you'll teleport
to the "start" of the Tower, which is just beyond the barrier that enforces this.
That means you can keep your weapons in place and use them in the upcoming area. Head
up either set of stairs to continue.
Second Floor: On the next floor, there is a chest in the lower right with 500
Silver. To the far left you can find a pillar you can run around to avoid enemy
encounters, if you want. The exit is in the lower right of this screen.
Third Floor: Head up, then left, then down and continue to the next level (there
are no chests here as far as I am aware.)
Fourth Floor: There is a chest in the lower-middle of the screen with 750 Silver.
There are two exits here - top left and top right. Take the top right first, open the
chest there for a Star Light , then return to this level and take the top left exit.
Fifth Floor: There are three exits here - lower left, lower middle, and lower
right. The left and middle exits are dead ends, so head to the lower right exit.
Sixth Floor: There are two exits here - upper middle and upper left. Take the
upper left, then go down to another exit and open the chest there for 250 Silver. Return to this level and take the upper middle exit.
Seventh Floor: There are two exits here: One in the lower right and one in the
middle of the screen. Take the lower right exit and open the chest there to obtain
the Angel Ring . Return to this level and take the exit in the middle of the screen.
Eight Floor: As far as I can tell, there's nothing here you haven't already
obtained. Follow the path to the right and exit through the only door (at the bottom
of the path).
Ninth Floor: When you first get here you'll have a short cut scene. Fight the
enemies here if you want, then heal up and save. If this area hasn't been too
challenging, the next fight shouldn't be either. Transfer any unique equipment and
items from both Nash and Mia to Nall, but leave them both with a Healing Nut and a
Star Light . Or if you can afford it, two. When you're ready, take the only exit at the
top of the screen.
Star Chamber
After a cut scene you'll be thrust into battle with 4x Ultragoyle. Mia's Blizzard
magic works pretty well on these guys. If they get close to each other, her Ice Wall
spell will deal massive damage to them. Sword Dance is also pretty effective -
especially if you use Vigor and/or Cascade Song. If you're well prepared, this is
arguably the easist boss battle in the game. I only needed to have Luna heal everyone
once.
Leave Vane via the teleporter and heal up at the shrine to the west. Depending on
the version of the game you're playing, you might be able to get Phacia's Bromide by
talking to the lady at the far north end of the shrine. Head back along the north
path to Meribia and Revisit a bunch of places.
Redux
Meribia
Return to Maribi via the northern road. Head to Black Rose Street and talk to the old
lady until she askes you to tell her sister to move back. Head to the castle and talk
to everyone until Jessica escorts you away. Talk to Luna and Jessica until you get
another cutscene. When you wake up, talk to Mel and Jessica, then leave the mansion
and head to the harbor in the lower right of the city screen. Tell Ghaleon you're
ready to leave and you'll travel to...
Saith
There's not much to do in town, but if you leave and revisit the hag you can obtain
the Ice Mace by talking to her a few times. Return to Quark by going through the
woods and past Berg, but before you enter his room, transfer all of Luna's equipment
and items to Nall.
Berg
After the cut scene, head to the basement and examine the shelves. The ones on the
upper left should have Luna's Bromide. Leave the basement and talk to Alex's parents,
then head to Dyne's shrine in the upper left of the city map. After the cutscene with
Laike, you will be able to use your new Dragon Wings to fast travel to any place
you've previously visited. Head for Meribia.
Meribia
You'll find Meribia is in a bit of a state. After a quick battle, give Jessica the Ice
Mace and anything else that might help her. Some Healing Nuts and Star Light would be
a good start. Use the statue to heal up, if you need, then head to the castle.
Unfortunately there are boxes everywhere blocking the obvious path so you'll have to
detour all the way left and down the bottom of the screen before heading right and
back up to the palace. If you head to Ramus' store along the way you can upgrade Alex
to a Silver Sword . Don't bother with the other stores, though. They're all closed.
When you get to the palace, head right to the bedrooms, then go through the
lower-right exit to find Mel. Watch the cut scene.
You'll learn your next destination is Vane, but head outside first. Go to Black
Rose Street and talk to everyone there. In the first house you can talk to the guy and
see a glitch - the wrong character appears talking about how worried she is for Vane.
XD Anyway, keep talking to folks and you should get Royce's Bromide. Go back to the
other screen, use the statue to heal up, save, then fast travel to Vane.
Vane
Getting here will being a boss battle. If you have enough magic, have Alex lead with
Dragon Protect. After that cast Vigor on Alex, then have him use sword dance. Mia
should cast Ice Shell on each Ally (one at a time, sigh). The others should attack or
heal. Mia's Ice Wall does decent damage, but Nash's Electricity isn't that great. If
you left them each with a Healing Nut and a Star Light , this battle will be less
difficult.
When the battle is over, you'll have a cut scene, then you can talk to Mia and Nash
until they agree to join you party. Load up on any items or equipment you need, heal
up at the statue outside, then fast travel to Nanza. If you need money to afford
stuff, don't forget you can return to the cave of trials and fight the enemies there
for serious cash and XP.
Nanza
When you first get here, make sure you have your gear settled properly, then save your
game and head to the center of town. Now you get to fight as Kyle. Use magic Power Up.
This should get the enemies close to you. Next use magic Power Sweep. That should end
the battle in one or two blows. Watch the dialog, then DON'T TALK TO HIM when the
battle is over. See that doorway just above you? Go through that. Head to the upper
right corner of this screen and search the bed with red diamonds for Jess' Bromide 4.
When you have that, go back the way you came and talk to Kyle. This time fast
travel to Althena's Shrine, head to the far back room, and talk to the girl that's
always going on about her sister. Once you talk to her enough, you'll get Jess'
Bromide 1. Keep talking and you'll learn that Ramus may have more of these. In the
version I was playing when I wrote this walkthrough, he didn't sell them. But some
versions of the game do. Fast travel to Meribia and head to his shop.
Fast travel back to Nazna and head out the south gate. Head south until you find
another sign, then take the north path up and right. The blue chest has an angel tear.
You can't open the orange one, yet. Head back to the sign and continue south until you
get to the world map.
Optional: Level up area. If you avoid the obvious structure and instead go left
around it and down, you should eventually see a small village to the west. That's
Iluk. If you go there, you can use the shrine and more importantly you can fast travel
here. You can buy some armor for Nash, then head out of the village and go east and
then northeast to find a forest where you can level up. Save first, but if you can
defeat enemies quickly here, they're worth 200-300 XP each. If any of your guys need
to level up, this is an OK place to do that. You can always leave the forest and
return to vane to buy Star Light (Alex and Kyle magic are best here), then you can
fast travel back to Iluk.
When you're ready to continue, go south from Nazna and head to Reza.
Reza
Entering Reza
When you first get here, head to the center of town to trigger an event. You will
temporarily lose the ability to fast travel. Head through the doors at the top of the
screen to enter the pub. Talk to the bar keep and learn you need to join the Thieves
Guild. Before leaving town, find the weapon and armor shops to the right of the town
center. Good upgrades:
- Alex: Samurai Sword
- Nash: Ethereal Cane , Sorcerer's Robe
- Mia: Ethereal Cane , Sorcerer's Robe , Silver Armlet
- Kyle:
- Jessica: Flail (if you didn't get the Ice Mace earlier), Purity Clothes , Silver Armlet
Leave town and head south through the pass just down from the town. If you haven't
visitied Iluk yet, head west and pop in so you can fast travel there later. To
continue the plot, head east and north. You should see a small shrine looking thing
to the east just before you get to the Meryod Woods. That's a hot springs. If you've
bought a bunch of soaps earlier, you can head there and use two bars of soap to watch
two cut scenes.
Meryod
The Meryod Woods are just up and left from the hot springs. Make your way through the
woods. When you reach the north exit, continue north and east to the town of Meryod.
Heal at the statue, then head right over the bridge. After a quick cut scene, you'll
need to find your party one at a time. Wander around the town picking folks up. Head
up, left, and down to get Nash. From there, head down, left, and up to find Jessica.
You can head left, then up, then right to acquire Mia. Straight up from there you'll
find the pub. Pick up Kyle and the Old Notebook . If this is your first visit to
Meryod, visit the weapon, armor, and item shops before heading out of town the same
way you came in.
Head south through the woods, but make sure Kyle is fully healed up and has one or
more Healing Nut items before you get to the southern exit. When you get into a boss
battle, have Kyle cast Power Up, then repeatedly cast Power Slash. If you drop below
50 HP, use a Healing Nut . When you leave the woods, head south and you should see the
spire.
Damon Spire
If you've used a lot of magic or items on the way here, you can head west to Iluk and
heal at the shrine, and you can back track to Reza to pick up any items you might
need. This area has enemies which are resistant to physical damage, so you may find
having a bunch of spare Star Light could be helpful. Head to the spire and go through
the doors. After a bit of a cut scene, you'll be allowed entrance.
First Floor: While there are a variety of treasure chests on this floor, they are
all empty. The first floor of the spire is relatively easy to clear. You just need to
step on all the red squares, then try to open the door in the lower left corner of
this map. From the entrance head right, stepping on any red boxes you can. Head up
the right side stepping on all the boxes as you go. When you've done all on the right
side, head back down and go left to the center area. Step on the read squares in the
center area, then do that on the left side as well. The door at the bottom left of
the screen won't appear to open, but you can approach them to trigger a cut scene.
Have Mia answer the question, then head up to the second floor.
Second Floor: Similar to above, step on the red squares to open the various doors.
These enemies may drop a Star Light , and the chests on this level may have them as
well. The exit door is in the upper right corner of this level. Let Nash answer this
one.
Third Floor: Similar to the above. Red squares, chests for Star Light . The Rufus
enemies on this level are immune to magic and regular attacks, but magic attacks like
Alex's Sword Dance or Flash Cut or Kyle's Power Sweep work. There's a chest in the
lower-right with Sage's Clothes for Jessica. The exit at the top requies a healing
spell, so have Jessica heal him. There are two Star Light items here.
Fourth Floor: These enemies can be hurt with physical attacks. In fact for my
team, I just had everyone attack and it took them out without any issues. There's a
chest in the upper left with a Spirt Bandana for Nash, a Star Light in the upper
right, and an Ice Pendant in the lower right. The exit is in the lower middle, and
you have to let the dude know that no one was unimportant.
Fifth Floor: Same kind of thing. Step on red squares, make your way around until
Damon asks you to sculpt something. Alex should do the sculpting. There are no
eneimes or chests on this level.
Top of the tower: You'll get the Theives' Guide from Damon, and he'll unlock all
the bookshelves. You can now backtrack through the tower and read all the bookshelves
you couldn't before. Or you can use a Dragonfly Wing or Jessica's magic to exit the
tower. Return to the city of Reza.
Next steps
In Reza talk to the bar tender again. You'll give the Thieves' Guide and receive the
Theives' Crest. Head behind the bar and take the upper passage on the next screen.
Talk to the girl here several times, then go up again, then left, and down. Talk to
the guy in the upper right to get your dragon wings back. You'll also get another
soap. Talk to him again to find weapons you can buy. You can also buy armor from
another guy here, Recommended equipment:
- Alex: Ice Blade
- Nash: Intelligent Robe , Stone Bow
- Mia: Crystal Armlet , Ice Cane
- Jessica: Crystal Armlet , Ice Mace (if you didn't get it before)
When you're done buying equipment, leave and watch the cut scene. Go back to the
thieves bazaar. Talk to the guy on the far left to obtain the Balloon Blueprint . Go
back the way you came and head to the center of town. Since you now have the Thieves'
Crest, you can open all those orange (red?) chests you couldn't obtain before. Here's
a quick guide to grabbing them before moving on. I recommend grabbing chest 12 first,
since you're here and all...Chest 1: Berg - The first building on your right as you enter town is the mayor's
house. Go upstairs to Ramus' room and open this chest for the Garbage Can Lid .
Chest 2: Weird Woods (west of Berg) - Head up and left from the clearing where you
first met Laike to obtain the Wrath Ring .
Chest 3: Old Hag's House - Head west of Berg and North of Saith, through the woods
to the house where you got the Sea Chart before. In the basement you'll find a chest
with a Silver Light .
Chest 4: Saith - Head to the house in the lower left corner of the city screen and
go upstairs to find the Protect Ring .
Chest 5: Meribia - Head to Ramus' store, then look for the house just below that
on the city map. Inside the middle door you should find 1000 Silver in the upper
right room.
Chest 6: Meriba Sewers - Go through Mel's palace and head to the sewers. Go
through the left door and down to the next door. Go through that, then through the
door on the right. Pick up the Star Light and Fortune Ring if you missed them before,
then open the locked chest for a Silver Light .
Chest 7: Vane Cave of Trials - Teleport to Vane and wander through the passage
until you got the locked chest with Soap. Warp out of the dungeon and then use the
teleporter to go back to Vane for the next chest.
Chest 8: Vane - Go south from the statue of Althena and look for a tiny piece of
the chest peaking out to your left. Open that for the Devil Pendant .
Chest 9: Nanza - Head to the basement via the tower in the center of town, then go
down to the bedroom and look in the lower-left corner for the Crystal Pendant .
Chest 10: Nanza Pass - Head south from Nanza and take a right at the first fork.
Head up to find the chest with a Silver Light .
Chest 11: Lann - Head up and left from the entrance to town. Left of the bucket
with fish you can go behind a house and open the chest for a Silver Light .
Chest 12: Reza - Head to the town center and search the far left of the screen for
the Silver Light .
Chest 13: Meryod Wood - Enter from the Meryod side of town and follow the path
down, left, then up. The chest with the second Fortune Ring is hiding behind a tree
in a clearing.
Chest 14: Meryod - Head to the lower left corner of the city map and find a chest
hidden partially behind a house. Get the Silver Light .
When you're ready to advance the plot, head to Iluk
Iluk and the Red Dragon
Iluk
Fast travel to Iluk (or if you can't, head south from Reza.) Go to the house at the
top of the screen and talk to the inventor to give him the Ballon Blueprint. He'll
tell you to talk to the botanist. Leave this building and go down the stairs to your
left (yeah - outside, it's weird.) When he unlocks the gate, you can go up through
the gate/door there.
Start off by heading up and to the right. (If these enemies are too tough, don't
forget to use your most powerful magic and return to the healing shrine on the
previous screne.) You should come to a red circle - touch it to jump the gap. There's
a chest here with a Healing Ring . Beyond the chest are more enemies, but nothing
important. Head back the way you came, healing at the shrine if you need.
From the enterance, head left, then left and down, and jump across multiple gaps by
approaching the red circle things. Continue left and follow the path up to find a blue
chest with a Crystal Bracelet . Equip that to Nash and head right. You should come to a
crop patch pretty quickly. Heading up and right from there should eventually bring you
to another blue chest with a Spook Hairpin . Have Mia equip that.
Head left and up from here until you come to another crop patch with a chest
containing 1500 Silver and a blue enemy hanging out in the crops. After the battle you
should see a pink orb. Watch the cut scene and you'll obtain the Fluffy Bug . Exit the
way you came and heal at the statue.
Optional: Level up - This field isn't a bad spot to level grind. You can quickly
get back to this statue, and some of these battles are worth over 600XP. When you're
ready to continue, save your game and talk to the inventor. After some more dialog,
make sure your party is fully stocked (equip ice weapons to anyone who can wield them
and do NOT equip any fire weapons) and then talk to the inventor by the balloon to
launch.
Red Dragon Cave
Prep work: You will not be able to return to this dungeon, so be sure you have
obtained everything here that you want! The enemies here are vulernable to Ice magic.
Don't be afraid to use Mia's enemy zone or enemy all magic. Also, be sure to equip ice
weapons to Alex and Jessica, and make sure Mia and Nash don't have a Flame Staff
equipped. You'll get a decent number of HP and MP restore items here, so use them as
needed.
First Floor: After the Balloon lands, head through the door in the upper right.
Second Floor: Take either the left or right path - they'll both lead you to a door
at the bottom of the screen.
Third Floor: Head up and right to find a chest with a Star Light . Continue left
until you find a chest with another Star Light . Continue left, down, then back to the
right and you should come to the exit.
Fourth Floor: At the start of this level you should have your HP and MP restored.
Follow the path down and to the left for a Barrier Ring . Head up and slightly left
from that to find another chest with a Star Light . Continue left and quickly run
through the flames to reach the exit.
Fifth Floor: Head up and right to find a chest with a Star Light . Head back to the
entrance and the head down and right to find a chest with a Rainbow Tiara . Equip this
to Jessica. Again head back to the entrance and this time head left, the up and left.
There's a chest toward the top of the screen with 1000 Silver. Head down from that,
then left and up to find another chest with a Star Light . To the left of that chest
you should see more flames. Ignore them for now and head left and down to find two
chests, one with another Angel Ring and the other with a Star Light . To the right of
that chest is a weird pot looking thing. Approach it to be jumped to a new area.
There's a chest here with a Flame Sword for Alex, but DON'T equip it until you're out
of this dungeon! Return to the flame wall, save your game, heal your guys up, then go
through the flames toward the top of the screen. You'll get in a battle while walking
through the flames, so be ready to quickly head up once the battle is over. Once
through the flames, open the chest for a Star Light , then prep for battle before doing
anything else (See the prep section below.) When ready, head slightly up to trigger
some dialog. When it's over, save and heal again, then approach the statues.
Bronze Dog
Prep: For this boss battle, the two statues will deal massive damage to all your
characters for the first two turns. Be ready to have everyone use healing items. I
recommend everyone has 2x Healing Nut and 1x Star Light (at least). Don't worry about
status recovery for this battle.
- Alex: Have Alex cast Vigor then use sword dance. Concentrate on one enemy until
they're dead.
- Nash: Have nash attack during the first round, then use a Healing Nut on himself
for the next two rounds, unless he's got great health. Attack after that. Be ready to
use a Star Light on anyone that needs one.
- Mia: Have Mia use Power Drive on Alex if she can, then use a Healing Nut on
herself for the next two rounds unless she's go great health. Use Ice All magic after
that.
- Kyle: Kyle should use Power Up during the first round, then use Power Slash. Concentrate
on the same enemy Alex is attacking, then switch to the other when it's dead.
- Jessica: Have Jessica attack in the first round, then heal all after that unless
folks are doing OK - in which case she should concentrate on attacking the same enemy
as Alex and Kyle.
After the battle head up and right to find a chest with 5000 Silver. No, that's not
a typo. Once you have that, go through the exit and walk forward to trigger the cut
scene. After the cut scene, use a Dragonfly Wing or Jessica's magic to return to the
start of the dungeon. Go up through the doorway, then down to your balloon. Remember,
you can't return to this dungeon, so make sure you've got everything you wanted, then
touch the balloon to leave.
After a while you'll end up in Reza. Use the statue just outside the entrance to
heal, then talk to Laike to learn that the bridge in Meryod has been fixed. Fast
travel there and head right to cross the bridge. On the other side is a weapon shop.
Give Alex the Flame Sword and Dragon Master's Shield you found in the Red Dragon Cave,
then buy a Great Sword for Kyle, a Water Mace for Jessica, a Holy Bow for Nash, and a
Sage's Cane for Mia. Leave the store then leave the town by heading right.
On the overhead map you'll see the second hot springs to the lower right. Be
warned, however. That forest between here and there is not for the faint of heart and
the enemies provide little XP so you're not going to level up here. If you're willing
to run from every battle you can do so, but you're going to be hard pressed to get
through at this level. I really recommend waiting until you're stronger. Instead, head
north to the town of Lyton.
Lyton and the Blue Dragon
Lyton
Head north from the eastern exit of Meyrod and you should find a small town. Go in and
talk to folks. The building to the far lower right has better armor than you're
probably wearing. Buy Holy Armor , a Holy Shield , and a Holy Helmet for Kyel. Pick up a
Rainbow Armlet for Jessica, and a Holy Helmet for Alex.
Head to the hut at the top of the screne (with two pointy roof things). Talk to the
elder, then leave that hut and head right and enter the shrine among the trees. Talk
to the folks in the shrine, then enter the cave. Note: Look at the floor carefully in
this dungeon! If you see cracks, be sure to step around them.
First Floor: Head up and right, the follow the right wall until you see a cave. Go
through that.
Second Floor: Head down and right until you get to a fork in the path. See the
cracks in the floor here? Avoid that and grab the chest for a Wisdom Robe . Equip that
to Nash and continue down, avoiding cracks. At the next fork go down and right to find
the exit to this section.
Third Floor: Head right and up to get to the chest just above the entrance.
Continue up and right until you get to the exit.
Fourth Floor: Head down to the right and open the chest there for 2500 Silver.
Continue down and follow the path left all the way to the exit in the upper left
corner of this screen.
Fifth Floor: Head down at to the right. Watch for the cracks in the floor. There
are several of them. Go through the exit at the lowest left area of this screen.
Sixth Floor: Head to the top of this screen - watching out for cracks in the floor.
Seventh Floor: Follow the path up and left until you trigger a dialog. See the
rocks against the upper edge of the path? You need to push those in front of the
correct holes. Block the far left hole by pushing the rock from the right, and block
the far right hole by pushing the other bock from the left. Escape from the dungeon
using Jessica's magic or a Dragonfly Wing . Go down from there to leave the shrine.
Exit the shrine and head left to speak with the village elder again. After a quick
dialog, speak with Kyle and Jessica, then with Mia and Nash. When both of them are
done singing, walk toward the shrine and have Alex play. When you have control again,
make sure your characters are healed up and walk into the shrine.
Blue Dragon Shrine
Prep work: Make sure you are using Alex's Flame Sword . The enemies here are sensitive
to fire magic, so take advantage of Mia's Flame Circle, and in an emergency you can
use Alex's new Dragon Anger, if you have enough MP. Nash's Thunder spells are pretty
good here, too.
First Floor: See the pool to your left? Go jump in it.
Second Floor: See the pool to your rigth? Go jump in it.
Third Floor: There's a pool to your left, but it's a trap. If you try to go in
there you'll end up in a fight instead. Go past that and continue up and left until
you find a chest with an Angel's Tear . There are three more pools over here. The lower
left and lower right pools are traps. Avoid them and take the upper pool on this
screen (nearest to the chest you just opened.)
Fourth Floor: In addition to the pool you came here via, this area has two more
pools. The one you want to use is up and slightly left from where you entered this
area. The other pool located up and to the right is a trap. Head up and left and use
that pool.
Fifth Floor: Head down and to the right until you see three pools. The left and
right pools are traps. Use the middle pool to move to the next area.
Sixth Floor: There's a pool to the left of you when you come to this area. As you
might expect, that ones a trap. Ignore it and head down and to the left. There's a
chest at the bottom of the left area with 5000 Silver. Grab that then use the pool
just up from the chest.
Seventh Floor: Head to the far left and open the chest for a Ruby Tiara . Equip that
to Jessica, then go back to the entrance and head up and right to find a chest with
another Angel Ring . Head down and right until you come to a path leading up. Go up,
then up and right when you get the chance. Wrap back around to the left and you'll be
confronted with seven pools - two on top and five on the bottom. All but the second
from the left on the bottom are traps. Avoid the traps and use the real pool to head
to the next area.
Eighth Floor: You'll see two pools just to the left of you when you get to this
area. Those are both traps, so head up and to the right. Follow the left wall over to
the left and down until you find two chests. The right chest has a Jewel Bracelet .
Give that to Nash. The other chest has a Chira's Tail. Up and slightly left from the
chests you should find the pool to the next area.
Ninth Floor: Head left and down until you find a chest with a Dragon Armlet . Give
that to Mia, then head left until you see a doorway. Heal up and save, then head left.
Head up and look around. After a dialog, go down and take the right-hand path to
obtain the Dragon Helmet . Equip that to Alex, then head left back to the blue dragon's
lair. Depending on how powerful you are, you may want to consider going back the way
you came to level up a bit. The enemies here are pretty powerful, so you've got a
chance to get to a decent level before you advance.
Leave via the south entrance to the town and head south toward
Tamur.
Optional: Hot Springs 2
By now your characters may be powerful enough to take on the forest leading to the
second hot springs. There's a chest in the upper right area with 5000 Silver. However,
even if you have multiple soaps, you'll only be able to see a single cut scene.
Tamur and Myght's Tower
Tamur Pass
Head down and right from the town of Lyton and enter Tamur Pass. If you follow the top
wall to the far right and down, you'll find a chest with an Angel's Tear and a sign
reading "Another Hidden Path". From there, go back up and left, then go down when you
can. You'll find another chest with a Healing Nut . Head left until you see a sign
reading "Danger Dead Ahead! Turn Back!" Go up and left from that to find a chest with
a Dark Helmet that you should equip to Kyle. Follow the left wall down and the up to
find a chest containing a Wind Cane . Equip that to Mia. Backtrack to the sign at the
lower left saying "Welcome to Tamur" and look for a chest just below that with a
Shira's Tail.
Heading right will trigger a couple of hard battles and you'll be back attacked.
You may want to use Nall's menu to put your buff folks in the back row instead of the
front row. Heal up and head right until you trigger a cut scene. Fight a few battles,
then head right until you come to the village of...
Tamur
There's an item store just as you enter town. You can buy a Protection Ring for the
first time, but the rest of the items aren't that rare. Directly up from that is a
weapon shop. You can buy some things you've seen before, but get a Judgement Mace for
Jessica and a Wind Sword for Kyle. Give Kyle's Great Sword to Alex to equip and give
the Flame Sword to Nall. Up from there is an armor shop. Upgrade Alex and Kyle to the
new Silver Armor . Give Jessica the Radiance Clothes . Give Mia the Saint's Robe and
give Nash the Spirit Robe .
Optional: Level up. The next phase of this journey will only allow you to level up
Alex. If you want to level up other characters, you can go back through the canyon you
took to get here.
When you're ready to move on, head out through the north gate of the city and tell
Laike you're ready. Technically you could level up Alex by fighting monsters in the
forest just east and south of the town, but Laike isn't really into that. Head up and
right and find the tower. Enter the tower and talk to the blue haired guy there.
You'll need to go through the doors that map to a specific set if icons:
Entry floor: Planet, Star, Sun, Moon. Yes, this means you'll be back tracking in a
few places.
NOTE: From here things are a little weirder. If you enter an elevator on the left
side of the screen, it will go up. To the right it will go down. If you run across an
enemy in a Hat , you'll need to do magic damage to it. You can use sword dance.
First Floor: There's nothing to the right, so go sightly left and get on the
elevator to the second floor.
Second Floor: The only thing you can do here is go in the door to your left. There
are two exits here - one in the middle and one on the far right. The far right exit
is a dead-end, so go through the middle exit. From here you can either enter another
door to the left or you can hop on the elevator. Go through the door and find the
chest on the lower left to obtain a Silver Light . There's an exit to the left of the
chest, but it leads to a dead end. Head back out the door you came through and hop on
the elevator. It will take you down to the first floor again. Head left and get on
the elevator going up. When it stops, get off and then get right back on to head to
the third floor, then hop off and back on to get to the fourth floor.
Fourth Floor:Go through the door. There's an exit on the left and one on the
right. Head around around the maze to the exit on the far right. There are two doors
here, one to the right and one to the left. Go through the left door and head through
the maze to the chest in the upper left with a Crystal Sword . Equip that to Alex. The
exit on the far left here is a dead-end, so go back out the door you can through on
the lower right. This time go through the far right door and find a chest in the
middle with a Healing Nut . Go out the way you came and use the elevator to head back
to the first floor, then take the other elevator to the third floor. (Yes I know
there was another exit to that last room, but it just wraps you around to the start
of the level.)
Third Floor: There's a single door to the left here. Go through there and make
your way to a chest in the lower right for another Barrier Ring . Head to the exit on
the lower right and go through the door on the far right of the next screen. Open the
chest here for 500 Silver then head to the exit on the far lower left. Talk to the
lady in the upper right to learn how to quickly exit the tower, then talk to the guy
in the upper middle. The right exit goes to the tower roof, but there's nothing there
yet. Go through the door on the upper left and leave the tower via either of the
lower doors (they head to the same place), then head back to Tamur.
Forest of Illusion and Pao
Head to the pub to find your party. After talking with everyone, leave the pub and
heal at the statue if you need, save, then head to the upper part of the town to pick
a fight. Vigor and four Sword Dance attacks made quick work of him. Top off your
HP/MP at the statue and leave via the northern exit. Head down and right to the
Forest of Illusion.
There are two paths leading down here. Both will take you to a clearing. After a
bit of dialog, you'll be able to continue. There are 5 exits from this clearing. Two
lead back up to the entrance, one leads left, and two lead down. Take the left path
leading down. After a bit more dialog, head up and right to find a Healing Nut in a
blue chest. Continue right, then take the fork leading up to find a chest with
another Chira's Tail. Continue right until you find a chest with a Holy Hairpin . Give
that to Mia, then head left and take the path down and all the way left. There will
be a couple of paths leading down. The right one goes to a Silver Light in a chest
and the left one is a dead end. Head back to the clearing and this time head left. Up
from here is a Healing Nut . Return to the clearing and rest.
After you wake up you'll have MP/HP restored. Follow your new friends down and
left until the path south is opened. Follow the path left to find a Dark Shield for
Kyle. Head back past the opening and continue right. Take the path leading up and
curve around to find a chest with a Star Bracelot for Nash. Return to the opening and
head south to exit this area. Travel south on the world map until you get to a town
made of tents.
Pao
Talk to folks and learn about the situation here. Find Tempest's tent and talk to
him. When he leaves, exit the tent and find the village elder's tent. Once you have
permission, leave the tend. There's an item shop in one of the tents, if you need
more Healing Nut or Star Light items. Since you're down a healer and a mage, this
area can be tricky if you don't have sufficient items. Head right, heal at the statue
if you need, then enter the cave.
Black Dragon Cave
Prep work: Did you stock up on items? Being down a healer and mage can make this area
tricky. Don't forgt to assign them to the appropriate folks. Nash's thunder magic
isn't exactly awesome against some of the monsters here. Have him use his bow on
enemies that are resistant (attacks show up in yellow.) Something else to be aware of
here. Some of the chests here are traps that drain your MP. Avoid those!
Cave Entrance: Head right and cross a bridge, the follow the path up. The bridge
on your right leads to a dead-end, so go through the doorway.
First floor: Head through the doorway on your left, then through the doorway up
and left to find a chest with a Dragon Bandana for Nash. Since his magic isn't that
useful here, it's better to trade 5 wisdom for 5 defense in this area. Go back and
through the doorway in the upper right. Wind right and down to find a stairway and a
door leading down. Go down for now and find the chest here with a Dream Bow . Give
that to Nash, then go back and head up the stairs.
Second Floor: Grab another Angel Ring here, then go through the doorway leading
down. WARNING: That chest you see to the right is an MP trap. Don't open it. Head
left and up until Tempest joins your party. The chest up and left from here has a
Silver Light . Follow the path up and right, then down and right again. At the far
right is another of those trapped chests. Don't open it. Head left instead and use
the stairs to reach the next area.
Third Floor: Go through the lower doorway and head left then up. When you get to a
room with a chest ignore it - it's a trap. Take the lower-right door from that room
and open the chest next to the stairway for a Healing Nut . Head up the stairs to the next area.
Fourth Floor: Go through the doorway and get the Silver Light from the chest on
your right the head left and up to trigger a cut scene. Equip the Dragon Armor to
Alex then head up to the next room and then up and right. There's a chest here with
Dark Armor for Kyle. Go back and take the other exit to the upper left of that room.
Grab the Dark Sword for Kyle along the way, then take the stairs to the next area.
Fifth Floor: There's a chest here with a strategically placed Dragonfly Wing . Grab
that, heal up if you need, save your game, then go up the stairs to start a boss
battle. After a few cut scenes, have Alex and Kyle power up, then use their magic
attacks. Tempest and Nash should use healing items if needed, then attack with their
bows.
When the battle is over, head down one screen and then use the Dragonfly Wing .
Leave the cave, heal at the statue, then head to Tempest's tent. When the party is
back togther again, you'll decide to head to Myght's tower. A few things you might
want to do before that, though...
- Talk to Tempest again to get the Master Sword .
- If you didn't visit the second hot springs yet, you can do it now. Don't forget
to save after the first scene. The game randomly chooses which scene to show you, so
you might need to reload to get the other one.
- You can also head to Meribia and talk to Ramus to get the Rememberizer. This
device will let you replay any animated cut scenes you've watched.
- If you fast travel to Lann and talk to the guy with the boat a few times, you can
get Jess's Bromide 2. While you're here, stop by the village elder's house and talk
to him a few times and agree to become an honorary citizen.
When you're ready to move on fast travel to Myght's Tower and talk to him. After a
brief dialog, talk to your friends until you end up on the top of the tower. Then
talk to them some more until Nash leaves the party.
Optional: If you fast travel to Iluk and talk to the guy in the upper-right house
to obtain Mia's Bromide 4.
Fast travel to Reza and talk to the bar tender a few times. Head through the door
behind the bar and go up a screen to talk to the girl. From there, continue up to the
thieve's bazaar. Talk to the guy by the balloon to get the Balloon Engine . Take that
back to Myght. Talk to Laike, then all your friends. When the repairs are done, talk
to Laike again and then go upstairs. After the cut scenes, welcome to
Talon.
Talon
Welcome tothe Fontier
Prep Work: The Dragon Wings won't work here, so you can't fast travel. You'll also
find that magic doesn't work very well here - at least not Althena's. There also
aren't any shrines to Althena for obvious reasons. You can restore HP and MP at the
inn.
Talon Mine
There are two doors here, but both will eventually lead you all the way north to the
Inn, and then to the Mine. Head into the mine. This is a dungeon, so be prepared.
First Floor: There is an exit strait up and another one way off to the right. Go
right first and open the chest there for a Healing Nut . Continue along the path and
you'll emerge just to the left of the other door you could have gone through.
Second Floor: There is a chest with a Star Light which is only barely visible -
hiding behind a tower in the middle of this level. Grab it and then go up a couple of
sets of stairs. There is an exit to the upper left and across the bridge to the right
and up another set of stairs.
Head to the right exit and go to the next screen. Follow the path left and up,
then back to the right. Skip the first ladder, then take the second one leading up.
Open the chest here for another Protection Ring. Go back out the way you came in. You
should see another door to your right. That's a dead end you can ignore. Instead, go
left down the ladder, then left and down another ladder. Go through the door there
and head up to the right. There are two exits at the bottom here. Go through the
right one and grab the Silver Light from the chest there. Come back and take the
other exit to the left. Open the chest here for a Healing Nut . Head out the upper
right path to leave this area.
Third Floor: Talk to the miners here the take the upper left exit. Follow the path
until something happens, then head back to help. Talk to the first green guy. Watch
the cut scenes, fight a quick battle, then watch more cut scenes. When you have
control again, head up and right.
Forth Floor: Go up the ladder, then right and down a ladder, then right and up to
get the Silver Light from the chest. Go back up the ladder, but this time head down
to the next area with a Star Light in a chest. Return to the previous screen and go
back down the other ladder to the start of this area. Go right and under the path to
get to another room with a Hell Armlet in a chest. Have Jessica equip that, then
return to the area start. Go up and left from here to get the next area.
Fifth Floor: Go down the path and through a tunnel. Go down the ladder. I'm going
to call this spot the entrance to make the rest of this area easier to navigate. Head
right and up, then down another ladder to get to the chest with the Holy Robe . Have
Mia equip that. From there head right (don't go back up the ladder) and through the
door. There's a chest here with a Devil Pendant . Leave that room and come back under
the path and up the ladder. Head back down the path to the place I called the entrace
earlier, then take the lower left path. Head left to the next room and open the chest
there for another Refresher Ring. Make your way back to the entrance and this time
take the lower right path.
Go down the ladder, under a couple of paths, then out the lower-right doorway.
Open the chest there for an Angel's Tear , then head back to the prior screen and up
the ladder. Take the lower-left exit and open the chest for the Fire Tiara . Equip
that to Jessica, then return to the previous screen and take the upper left exit.
Head head up and right for a Healing Nut in a chest, then continue up and right to
reach the grave yard. Use the statue if you need (right - like you don't need it
massively at this time), then head out the exit at the top of the screen.
Save and heal up. Give Alex and Jessica the Refresh Ring and Refresher Ring (you
don't want them to get silenced.) I like to give everyone 2x Healing Nut , a single
Star Light , an Angel's Tear and a Holy Water. When you're ready, head out the exit at
the top of this short area. After some cut scenes and a mock battle (don't waste your
magic), you'll have another boss fight.
- Power up Kyle and Alex, then have them use powerful magic attacks.
- Mia: Use her most powerful magic attacks. Throw items as needed.
- Jessica: Start with Saint Litany if you have it, and have Jessica heal and use
items as needed. If there's nothing to do, have her defend rather than attack.
After the battle is over, head out the left door and up to get to the world map.
Appraoch the fortress, watch the dialog, leave the fortress and head right to the
weird green egg thing. Go through the doorway and follow the path to the egg. Enter
the egg and look at things, then make your way deeper in. You'll learn how to enter
The City of Ruid.
Ruid and The Grindery
Ruid
First Floor: Go back to the fortress and enter via the left wall. The room on your
right has a Silver Light . The chest in the room up and left from that has a chest
with a Star Light . The next set of rooms has nothing, but the rightmost room above
that has a Fortune Ring . Continue up and you'll get in some back to back battles. You
can't go through the door the enemies came from, but you can head off to the right.
Take the first path down and go to the far right to grab the Dark Mace for Jessica.
Grab that, then head back into the room you passed, exit at the top and go to the
next area.
Second Floor: Head left and then head up. There is room here with two chests. The
left has a Silver Light and the right has a Healing Nut . The room right and slightly
up from that has a chest with a Fire Armlet for Mia. Head down from that room to go
through another building. Follow the path up and to the right to get to the next area.
Third Floor: Head up and fight some battles, then grab the Tri-Ring out of the
chest. Equip this to Alex - it protects against ALL status abnormalities. Head out
the door to the upper right, then quickly go around to the bottom of the pillar and
take the stairs up. Head right to the stairs on that side. Go around the pillar on
the next screen and head up one more flight of stairs.
Fourth Floor: NOTE: Before doing anything, make sure you're healed up and able to
cast magic. Anything you can equip to decrease fire magic attacks would be advisable.
When you're ready, head forward to trigger a cut scene, then start a boss battle. I
deployed my troops the same way this time as the last time:
- Power up Kyle and Alex, then have them use powerful magic attacks.
- Mia: Attack up magic on Alex and Kyle, then use her most powerful magic attacks.
Throw items as needed.
- Jessica: Start with Saint Litany if you have it, and have Jessica heal and use
items as needed. If there's nothing to do, have her defend rather than attack.
I didn't need to use any magic restoration items other than the ones I used to
prepare. I did have Kyle throw Healing Nut items to folks when he ran out of magic,
though. When the fight is over, follow the dude up the stairs and out the door to
your left. Follow the path and watch the cut scenes. When they're over, walk out the
way you walked in, but when you get to the place that looks like train tracks, follow
them to the bottom of the screen.
Notice on the world map that the Grindery has conveniently carved a path through
the mountain for you. Follow it out and head to the town of Talon near by. Make your
way to the spot where you saved the guy and talk to everyone here until they repeat
themselves. You should receive Xeonbia's Bromide.
Optional: Level up - This is actually an OK place to level up. If you enter via the
northern exit to the mine and have Alex attack all while everyone else just does
regular attacks, you should be able to get all the way to the place where the music
changes - just above the place where you saved someone earlier. From there, you can go
back and climb a ladder to fight enemies that are over 3k XP. You can then have Nash
use his thunder-all magic to weaken (or kill) enemies, and the go back one screen to
reset. Repeat until Nash is out of MP, then head back toward the Althena statue. This
time, have everyone use regular attacks but have Mia use Fire all. She should have
enough magic to should get everyone back to the Althena statue and you can rinse and
repeat so your folks level up.
When you're ready to move on, head to the airship.
The Grindery
Prep Work: When you next have control you'll be in Vane. Head down through one door,
then all the way right to get to the classroom. There's a student at the lower edge of
the screen that will provide you with Mia's Bromide 2.
Leave the magic guild and head to the entrance of Vane and pick up Nash, then head
back and talk to Mia by the door to the silver spire (the left hallway in the magic
guild.) When your party is back together, head through the door and follow the path.
Watch the cut scenes.
Optional: Ghaleon's Tear . If you followed the earlier advice to visit the town of
Lann and talk to the village elder, use the Dragon Wings to teleport to Lann and talk
to him again to receive Ghaleon's Tear .
Optional: Lily's Gale Ring . If you followed the earlier advice to talk to Lily in
Reze multiple times during your first visit, use the Dragon Wings to fast travel there
and talk to her again to receive the Gale Ring . This powerful ring will increase the
number of attacks a character has.
Optional: Damon's Hell Ring . Use the Dragon Wings to fast travel to Iluk, then head
east to Damon's Spire. Climb the Spire (should be trivial with your attack-all magic
at this point) and talk to Damon a few times to receive the Hell Ring . This powerful
ring cuts the MP cost for spells in half. That means Mia can cast Flameria for only 15
MP, and Alex can cast the over powered Dragon Protect for only 30 MP. You can't use
the Dragon Wings to fast travel from here, but you can use Jessica's magic to warp to
the start of the dungeon, then head down to go outside and fast travel from there.
Optional: Item restocking. If you picked up a ton of extra items in the Frontier,
you can sell them off now. If you used a bunch of Star Light items, you can take this
opportunity to restock them. Use the Dragon Wings to head to Meribia and head to
Ramus' store.
When you're ready to move on, fast travel to Althena's Tower and walk towards it.
You'll fight a few battles then you'll enter the grindery. There are red portals you
can jump in here. When you do that, you'll end up somewhere else. You can't go back
through them, so be careful not to miss any treasure by skipping too far ahead. My
general rule here is to give the Hell Ring to Mia and have her cast fire-all magic
while everyone else attacks. When she runs out of magic, I transfer the ring to Nash
and have him cast thunder-all while everyone else physically attacks. I can usually
take out all the enemies before they get a single shot in at this point, so I don't
even have to use my Healing Nut or Star Light items (there's a HP/MP refresh spot on
the fourth floor.)
First Floor: Head all the way left and hop in the first chute. There's a chest in
this area with a Healing Nut , and another portal chute. Jump in that to go to an area
with a chest containing Saint Clothes for Jessica. Equip that and head through the
chute here and follow the path to a chest with a Silver Light . Follow the path down
until you see a chute that has an up arrow on it. Jump in to head to the second floor.
Note: Taking this path means you skip a chest with a Healing Nut . If that bothers you,
head up from the entrance and take the first right until you find a room with a chest.
Grab the Healing Nut and jump in the chute. There's another Healing Nut in the next
area, and a chute taking you to the place where you found the Saint Clothes above.
Follow the path from there to get to the second floor.
Second Floor: This first area has two chutes in the upper left, a chest with a
Silver Light in the upper middle, and another chute in the upper right. Grab the item
then take the left chute in the upper left. Follow the upper wall (past a chute) until
you get to a room with a chest hidden in the lower left corner with an Angel Ring .
Head right to a room with a chest containing a Stone Bracelet for Nash. The chute you
passed earlier just takes you back to this area, so head down and left until you find
a chute with an arrow point up. Take that to get to the third floor.
Third Floor: Head down, then all the way left, then down and into a chute. There
are two chutes on this level. Take the left one, then head up on the next screen and
take the chute at the top. Head right, then up until you can jump into a chute heading
left. Go left from there and watch the dialog. Head left and open the chest for Kyle's
Insane Shield . Continue along the path down to reach a chute to the Fourth Floor.
Fourth Floor: Look around, talk to the folks, and restore your MP/HP here. Go
through the door on the left, and head right, the down until you see a barely visible
chest. Open that for another Healing Ring . Given the number of Healing Nut items you
get in this area, you probably won't need it, but there you are. Continue down, then
take a left and head up through the second doorway to find the stairs to the fifth
floor.
Fifth Floor: Head right, the look in the last room up to get a Holy Bandana for
Nash. Equip that then head back to the left. All the way left and down you'll find an
Insane Helmet for Kyle. Equip it and go right, then up to find the stairs to the sixth
floor.
Sixthe Floor: Head all the way right, then down. Go all the way left to find a
Phantom Ribbon for Mia. Equip it then head up the stairs.
Seventh Floor: The left chest has a Star Light and the right a Healing Nut . Grab
those then head up. Watch the dialog then head up the stairs. Make sure your folks are
healed, save your game, then head up. For this battle...
- Alex: Vigor, then sword dance.
- Nash: Thunderbolt unless someone needs an item.
- Mia: Power Drive on Alex and Kyle, then Ice Shell on everyone.
- Kyle: Power Up, then Power Slash unless someone needs an item.
- Jessica: Saint Litany, then defend, heal all, or use items as needed.
When the battle is over, head up and watch the cut scenes. After that you'll have
another battle. For this one, just have everyone attack. Don't worry about healing or
replenishing magic. You'll play a few rounds, then after the battle watch the cut
scene.
Althena's Fortress
Prep Work: You'll wake up in Meribia. Head to Ramus' shop. You can basically get
anything for free here now, but you probably only care about Star Light at this point.
Sell any old gear and stuff you don't need, then buy as many Star Light as you need.
When you're ready to move on, head to the pub over by the docks in the lower right of
the city screen. Talk to Nash and Kyle until they repeat themselves, then head back to
the palace and talk to Mia and Jessica. Return to the pub and talk to them to advance
the plot. When Laike shows up, agree to fight. Despite what Nall says, Ramus doesn't
have anything new. Just talk to Laike. Watch the cut scenes have Alex grab the
sword and watch more cut scenes.
First things first, have Alex equip Althena's Sword . If you give Alex the Hell Ring
too, he should have 5 attacks per turn now. For battles with three enemies, I didn't
need to use any magic. Regular attacks killed them off before they could hit my party
once. For more than that, a single thunder-all or fire-all was all I needed to add to
the mix.
First Floor: Head into the tower and walk forward until you start to encounter
monsters. Head up and then right. The up and down paths have nothing, so keep going
right until you find a chest with a Silver Light . Head up the stairs to the second
floor.
Second Floor: Follow the path until you find a chest with a Holy Mace for Jessica.
Straight down from there is a chest with a Dragon Cane for Mia. Take the left path up,
then at the next branch continue up until you find a chest with a Starlight Bow for
Nash. Once you have those all equiped, follow the left path to the third floor.
Third Floor: Follow the path until a dialog, then continue to the next area. From
here until you defeat Royce, you're going to start each battle with a random subset of
your party asleep.
Forth Floor: Follow the path until you reach a chest with Insane Armor for Kyle.
Continue to the fork in the path. You can get an Angel's Tear if you go down, but you
probably have enough of those by now. Take the path up to get the Aegis Robe for Mia.
Head down the left exit and follow the path left to the next area.
Fifth Floor: Follow the path until. You'll notice when you enter a room that a
purple barrier prevents you from moving on. Defeat enemies in this room to unlock the
barrier then take the other exit from the room. Repeat that process through two more
rooms until you come to a chest with Holy Clothes for Jessica. Continue along the path
to the next area.
Sixth Floor: Make sure you are healed up and ready for a boss battle. Here's how I
deployed folks:
- Alex: Vigor, then sword dance.
- Nash: Healing items.
- Mia: Attack up magic for Alex and Kyle, then Defence up magic on everyone.
- Kuyle: Power up, then power slash.
- Jessica: Heal or items
Seventhn Floor: After the battle, head through the door and heal at the shrine.
Continue along the path until you get to the area with different music. You'll see a
pattern of colors on the ground White, Red, Blue, Black. If you continue up through
the doorway with the round top, you'll see the same colors on the floor by a button in
each corner. Touch them in the order they appeared in the pattern. (Lower right for
white, Lower left for red, upper left for blue, and upper right for black.) After
touching them, head to the center area and jump on the portal.
Eight Floor: In this room, you'll start another portal. Step on the portals in the
same color order and climb the stairs in the next room.
Ninth Floor: On this floor you'll hear a dialog with Blue, Black, Red, White. Step
on the portals in that order and you'll end up in a small room with a switch to flip
and a chest containing...:
- Blue (upper left): Sage's Robe for Nash (don't forget to step on the switch before
stepping on the portal!)
- Black (lower left): Detonator Armlet for Jessica (then switch, then portal)
- Red (upper right): Spook Armlet for Mia (then switch, then portal)
- White (lower right): Insane Sword for Kyle (then switch, then portal)
You should now see a new portal on the main floor up from the one you came here
via. Take that to head to the next area.
When you first get here you'll hear the order White, Red, Blue, Black. I don't know
why, though. You can only step on the switches that are activated, and that means
heading left to the Red switch and following the path counter clockwise around the
room (Red, White, Black, Blue). Then head to the bottom of the screen and go up the stairs.
Tenth Floor: There is a statue here and enemies. Clear out the enemies, restore
HP/MP, save your game, and head through the door at the top of the screen (or level up
a bit - see below).
Optional: This is a decent place to level up before the final battle. By the time I
got here I could kill all these enemies with one thunder all and one fire all attack.
Because Boss stats are based on Alex's level, I prevent Alex from getting XP by having
him run from battle while Kyle and Jessica defend. If you find Alex doesn't get to try
and run before the battle is over, you can give him two of the Chiya's Tail
accessories and make sure neither Nash nor Mia have one. On my game Alex managed to
run often enough that the other characters averaged 2-3 times as many levels. The
enemies never got an attack. After killing all three groups here, just warp back to
the previous area and immediately warp back here. Touch the statue when you need.
These three enemies are worth almost 22k XP. I last played this game on an emulator
that lets me speed up the game. With that, all my characters go up a level in less
than 5 minutes (well, up through about level 70 anyway). If you get Alex to level 64
he'll have 4 attacks (6 with Althena's Sword and the Gale Ring .) When Mia hits level
72, you can equip two Crystal Pendant accessories to her. At that point she should be
able to take out Stone Creep enemies with a single blast of her fire-all magic. That
means you don't have to use Nash anymore, which makes things go a bit quicker. By 77
(actually, probably earlier) you can swap one of the Crystal Pendants for the Hell
Ring, so she can do twice as many attacks before you have to recharge.
Eleventh Floor: There are barriers on either side at the bottom of the screen. Go
stand close to one and the enemy patrolling on the other side should break the barrier
trying to get to you. Head through the doorway at the bottom of the screen.
Twelvth Floor: Make sure you have room in your inventory, then open the chest here
for a Spirit Talisman . Break the barrier the same as before, then loop around to the
exit.
Thirteenth Floor: There is a button you can step on toward the top of the screen.
This opens and closes the path leading up. Open the path and grab the Silver Light
from the chest on your left. Head through the exit.
Fourteenth Floor: There are four staircases leading up - one in each corner of the
room. Take the lower left, then head up and grab the Silver Light from the chest.
Break the barrier as before and head through the exit.
Fifteenth Floor: There are no chests here. Follow the path down and left until you
see the exit. Heal up, prep for a boss battle, save your game, then head through the
exit.
Sixteenth Floor: Head forward to watch a bunch of cut scenes, stay positive, walk
toward Luna, then begin the boss battle. You probably know the pattern by now...
- Alex: Vigor, then Sword Dance. Depending on your equipment and level, it's
possible regular attack will do more damage than sword dance. For me, Alex can do over
200 damage with each of his 6 hits. Even if one misses, it's still over the 999 damage
limit.
- Nash: Thunderbolt and use items as needed.
- Mia: Power Drive on Alex and Kyle, then Ice Shell on everyone, then Flame Bomb or
throw items as needed.
- Kyle: Power Up, then Power Slash or use items as needed.
- Jessica: Saint Litany, then heal or use items as needed.
After the battle, makes sure you restore your HP and MP. The next room is the final
battle, so don't be afraid to use your best items. Nall can't use items any more after
this, so clear out his stash first if you need. Head forward a few screens, watch the
dialog and cut scenes. Same prep and attack pattern as above.
Watch the dialog and cut scenes, then go talk to Luna and watch more cut scenes.
Eventually you'll hear the ocarina music play. That's your not-so-subtle cue to open
your inventory and use it. After that, climb the tower and watch more cut scenes.
Epilogue
When you have control again, you can wander around Meribia. Talk to Ramus in his shop,
talk to Mia and Nash on Black Rose Street, and talk to Jessica and Kyle in Mel's
mansion. After that, head to the port and talk to Laike to trigger the ending
sequence. Depending on which version you're playing, you may end up listening to some
outtakes.
Disclaimer
